Injectable FAQs: Answered by BMF Clinic’s Doctor

Injectables are not only still “relevant” in 2025. In fact injectables are exponentially rising and peaking into the tiptop beauty charts.

The positive shift in consumer acceptance has helped it make its way to the list from extreme to mainstream services these days. Notably even in one of the latest news reports by The Straits Time titled “More younger Singaporeans are getting Botox and collagen shots …”.

We believe that, moving forward, it’s here to stay for good and get even better as moder generations, enhanced, safer ingredients are emerging and taking their center stage.

The demand for longevity in beauty is one quest that never ceases, however, what may be stopping many are still the fear-mongering and misrepresentations. And if you too are skeptical about the injectables, here are some answers to the commonly asked questions:

1. Are injectables really safe?

As real as it gets, concerns to new users are mostly about the safety profile of injectables, because there have been genuine stories of botched cases of filler and botox on the news media coverage.

To answer this tricky question, here’s what one of BMF Clinic’s Doctor, Dr. Ashley, has to say: , “We have to understand the context of each story that has been publicized in the media. They are actually due to unqualified injectors, as well as unlicensed products."

Unfortunately, injectables cannot be 100% safe because they do pose potential risks just like any other medical treatments. That doesn’t mean that we must shy away from it completely because the majority of cases are safe and effective - as long as done in good hands.

At BMF Clinic, we do our utmost to mitigate risks and ensure a high injectable success rate, making it as safe as possible. We continue to uphold standards with precision by using authentic quality products, and our Drs. attend regular training to upgrade their skills.

2. Will injectables cause a pillow face?

Apart from its safety concerns, the next in line about injectables are the potential “unnatural” results such as pillow face. Yes, it has been confirmed by our Dr. “Fillers can cause pillow faces. They are done when too much fillers are put into the face by inexperienced doctors.”

When it comes to injectables, it really isn't the more the merrier. Usually, the facial overfilled syndrome is due to the overcorrection of facial features which gives off a dysmorphic look. On the brighter side, it can be avoided for good.

Over here at BMF, we use a conservative approach to pursue subtle enhancements instead of dramatic results. We believe that a “good” facial work should look undetectable for an untrained eye. Our Dr. also frequently attends conferences, learning the current techniques and skills, understanding the anatomy of the face, knowing the exact placements to enhance facial features, and making it poised without looking overdone.

3. What are the different types of injectables?

There are essentially four categories of injectables—Botulinum Toxin, Dermal Fillers, Skin Boosters, and Collagen Stimulators.

The staple amongst these are Botulinum Toxin which temporarily relaxes muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements. Long gone are the days when Botulinum Toxin was associated with the “frozen” aesthetics. Today, it is used strategically to soften expression lines and delay the formation of static wrinkles, not erasing every sign of emotion.

Dermal Fillers are the go-to for feature enhancements, as a way to temporarily reshape proportions and restore lost facial volume from aging. Thanks to its biodegradable material, Hyaluronic Acid is naturally absorbed by the body, making it highly adaptable and adjustable. And if you are worried of unsatisfied results, fret not because Dermal Fillers are very forgiving and reversible for further changes.

If you have been doing some research, you may have also noticed the viral craze for regenerative anti-aging. Never heard of it yet? Unlike traditional Dermal Fillers, these injections are mainly focused on improving your skin quality like Skinboosters and stimulating your own collagen production like Collagen Stimulators. It has been predicted that this new era of contenders is the future of injectables. Think continuous regeneration which helps to preserve the skin’s age rather than significant volume replacements.

4. How to choose the right injectables?

When it comes to the right treatments, it is never a one-size-fits all! The strongest match is always one that is tailored to individual needs and concerns. But one truth that always stays, anyone will benefit from layering a combination of treatments to target a multitude of skin woes. Combining a series of injectables, or even other non-injectables can help to enhance the efficacy and overall longevity of the desired results. We say, leave it to our Dr. to advise and craft the most fitting personalized plan for you.

Dr Ashley Yuen from BMF Clinic
