BMF Clinic's Symposium: Advancing Aesthetic Medicine Through Global Knowledge Exchange

As aesthetics medicine continues to evolve in an ever changing landscape, BMF Clinic stays committed to not only investing in technologies, but our team is also eager to stay updated through continuous medical education and knowledge exchange with experts from around the world.

This dedication towards clinical excellence is reflected in our most recent clinical symposium—BMF Clinic welcomed an internationally recognised doctor as our guest speaker, Dr Do Young Rhee from South Korea which is often seen as the industry leader and trendsetter in the aesthetics space of Asia.

This clinical symposium casted a series of clinical presentations on the current clinical approaches on two key aesthetic technologies offered at BMF Clinic—featuring Dr Do Young Rhee and BMF Clinic’s medical director Dr Ashley Yuen. The event then ended with a fireside chat discussion—exploring the topic on modern aesthetics with both doctors alongside two other BMF Clinic’s doctors, Dr Helen Kartika and Dr Kevin Wong.

"At BMF, we believe true innovation isn't simply about introducing the latest technologies—it is about continually learning from the world's best clinicians and translating that knowledge into better patient care. Education has always been at the heart of our philosophy, and we're honoured to welcome Dr Rhee to Singapore to share his expertise with our doctors and industry peers." -  Louisa Leow, Chief of Strategy, BMF Clinic

MEET DR DO YOUNG RHEE

A board-certified dermatologist based in Seoul, South Korea, Dr Rhee serves as Director of Heal House Dermatology and Academic Director of KOREADERMA.

He has also helped to initiate the development of Titanium Lifting that is known for its “BTS" effect. It has since become one of the treatments commonly done in South Korea to brighten, tighten and sculpt for many including celebrities—making him recognised for his expertise in advanced laser technologies and skin tightening procedures, and becoming a respected educator within the global aesthetic medicine community.

CLINIC TREATMENTS PRESENTED BY DR ASHLEY YUEN AND DR DO YOUNG RHEE

BMF Clinic invited a close community of media representatives, key opinion leaders and patients to learn about the MultiFrax Laser and Lorient Element solution.

MULTIFRAX LASER

Presented by Dr Yuen, the MultiFrax Laser is one of BMF Clinic's key aesthetic treatment offerings, that is designed to address concerns such as uneven skin texture and pigmentation by creating controlled microthermal treatment zones that support skin renewal and resurfacing. This treatment also stimulates collagen remodelling while helping to improve the overall skin quality.

Multifrax Laser

LORIENT ELEMENT

To complement the MultiFrax Laser, BMF Clinic incorporates a Korean-developed medical grade booster with topical formulation designed to support the management of pigmentation concerns, including melasma, uneven skin tone and dull-looking skin.

Lorient Element

Presented by Dr Rhee, Lorient Element is one of the ideal choices to achieve transparent “glass skin”—combining a carefully selected blend of ingredients, T.A.N.G.

Tranexamic Acid supports the management of excess melanin formation

Ascorbic Acid enhances collagen production and boosts overall luminosity

Niacinamide improves skin barrier function and reduces the transfer of pigment within the skin

Glutathione defends against oxidative stress associated with pigmentation

Alongside Hyaluronic Acid that delivers hydration, supporting skin recovery and comfort following the treatment

“Lorient Element helps my patients achieve clear skin with reduced hyperpigmentation and redness, while keeping it smooth with improved texture and lesser fine lines, and lastly a more luminous complexion that glows like glass skin.” -  Dr Do Young Rhee, Board-Certified Dermatologist, Seoul

When used as part of a carefully selected treatment protocol, this combination aims to address pigmentation through complementary mechanisms—supporting both skin renewal and pigmentation management to promote a brighter, more even-looking complexion.

CONCLUSION WITH A FIRESIDE CHAT ON MODERN AESTHETICS

To shed some light, we have decided to conclude the clinical symposium by expounding on the topic of modern aesthetics in today’s context with a fireside discussion. Hosted by a group of professional panelists, the chat explored the future of regenerative aesthetics, evolving patient expectations and the importance of evidence-based innovation in modern aesthetic practice—featuring the four doctors, Dr Do Young Rhee, Dr Ashley Yuen, Dr Helen Kartika and Dr Kevin Wong.

Fireside Chat Highlights

FIRESIDE CHAT HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE INDIVIDUAL DOCTORS

“Trends are rapidly changing but its biology remains. My recommendation is to focus on skin longevity and maintain my patients’ skin in a healthy and young state.” , Dr Do Young Rhee, Board-Certified Dermatologist, Seoul.

“Sometimes my patients want a popular treatment that may not be suitable for them. My duty is to customise what is right with a combination of treatments for each individual patient.”, Dr Ashley Yuen, Medical Director, BMF Clinic.

“My patients are looking for natural results with gradual and sustainable changes. My practice is to help them achieve the best version of themselves.”, Dr Kevin Wong, Resident Doctor, BMF Clinic.

THE DOCTORS’ PERSPECTIVES ON AESTHETICS-RELATED MISCONCEPTIONS

1. A treatment can be popular online and still be unsuitable for you? - “Yes, just because something is popular, it does not automatically make it suitable for everyone.”

2. Can one treatment protocol work equally well for everyone? - “No, no two skins are the same, the outcome will vary based on every individual.”

3. Do combination treatments always deliver better results? - “Yes, it is common to have more than one skin problem.”

4. Higher laser intensity means better results? - “No, laser intensity should be customised based on skin type, depth and application.”

5. Preventive aesthetic care is only relevant when signs of ageing appear? - “No, prevention can start as early as mid 20’s.”

BMF Clinic is grateful to wrap up this clinical symposium with great success, sharing deep and interesting medical aesthetic knowledge that everyone can carry away—this event served as a platform for meaningful dialogue, professional exchange and international collaboration, reflecting BMF Clinic's ongoing commitment to advancing clinical excellence and serving our patients better.
