Do's And Don'ts: MultiFrax Laser

Do's And Don'ts: MultiFrax Laser

No matter what lasers you are doing, proper aftercare is essential for optimal results. Today, we’ll be discussing the post-laser care of the MultiFrax treatment, so that you can get a bang for your buck and post-laser glow up.

LET US SHARE A REFRESHER ON WHAT THIS TREATMENT IS

The MultiFrax Laser is one of BMF clinic’s digital peel treatments that uses non-ablative fractional laser to rejuvenate skin from within. It offers two types of wavelengths 1,550nm and 1,927nm which work separately to enhance your skin.

1,550nm wavelength: Penetrates deep into the target deep collagen repair, stimulating cellular turnover and supporting collagen remodelling.

1,927nm wavelength: Targets the superficial skin layers to treat skin tone and textural issues, exfoliating the top layer, smoothing rough skin, lightening hyperpigmentation, reducing enlarged pores and improving the appearance of acne scars.

Let us share a refresher on what this treatment is

On top of it, they even create controlled micro-channels in the skin which helps to enhance the penetration of active skincare ingredients. This treatment is typically recommended to be paired with a potent skin booster such as the Snow White Melase brightening booster which contains ingredients like Tranexamic Acid and Glutathione to improve skin tone and clarity.

THE FIRST DON’T IS, DON’T NEGLECT ON PROPER AFTERCARE

Though it’s suitable for most skin types including sensitive skin, it’s still important to follow the guidelines of do’s and don’t for aftercare to avoid potential complications like burns or hyperpigmentation.

FOLLOW THESE PROTOCOLS AND YOU WILL BE SAFE

HERE ARE THE DO’S

  1. DO use a gentle and mild cleanser post-laser

  2. DO apply thick layers of heavy-duty moisturizer to combat dryness

  3. DO use daily sun protection of SPF 50+ (or at least 30) as the skin becomes hypersensitive to UV post-treatment

  4. DO apply frequent cold compresses 10 to 15 minutes every time to reduce swelling for the first 1-2 days when you can

THESE ARE THE DON’TS

  1. DON’T pick your face while the scab falls off, let them shed off naturally to avoid scarring

  2. DON’T exfoliate your skin for 1 to 2 weeks and allow it to heal on its own

  3. DON’T use makeup immediately and avoid ingredients with high levels of AHA/ BHA/ Retinol/ Vitamin C for 1 to 3 days

  4. DON’T engage in heavy exercises, go to saunas, or take extremely hot showers for 2 days to avoid increased inflammation

Take note that your skin will feel like sandpaper for the first 1 to 3 days and that’s totally normal. As long as you follow the do’s and don't's of these aftercare protocols, your skin should heal properly and return to normal within 2 weeks.
